 Understanding Molecular Geometry for Assignments

I’m having trouble with a online chemistry assignment help on molecular geometry. The questions ask me to predict shapes of molecules using VSEPR theory, but I don’t fully understand how it works.

For example, one question asks about the shape of SF₆. I know sulfur has six bonds, but I’m not sure why the shape is octahedral. Is it because of electron repulsion? And how do lone pairs affect molecular shapes, like in NH₃?

I’ve tried reading my textbook, but it’s all very technical. Can someone explain VSEPR theory in simple terms? If you know any easy tricks to quickly determine shapes or angles, I’d love to hear them. Also, are there any online tools or apps that let you visualize 3D molecular shapes?
