Just got a denial letter and I'm completely blindsided
I reported a back injury from lifting heavy boxes at a grocery store in Catskill the same day it happened, went to their doctor, did everything they asked, and then out of nowhere this letter shows up saying my workers comp claim denied Catskill NY because I supposedly didn't notify my supervisor within 30 days which is a total lie because I told him right when it happened and he even drove me to urgent care. I'm so frustrated I could scream. I've been missing work for three weeks now and I have no idea if I should appeal this myself or just give up. A coworker mentioned a local firm's website that handles these exact situations, but I'm worried about throwing good money after bad if the appeal just gets denied again. Has anyone successfully fought a denial based on a fake "late notice" excuse? How hard was it to prove you actually reported it on time? I have text messages from that day but I'm not sure if that counts. Any advice would seriously help because I'm losing sleep over this.
