Fall 2009

I hope the cool summer weather didn't slow down your summer activities. The weather didn't slow down your association board's busy year dealing with the many issues affecting association members. Many of the issues the board deals with every year are not evident to the membership since it is the board's job to handle these issues in a seamless manner. Only a few activities are on the forefront -- weed control, fishing, the brush area, road conditions, and the condition of the parks. These are only a portion of the issues handled by your board each year. The most visible activity is the annual picnic. This year's picnic was a great success with many members and their families interacting with each other.

There are several things you can do to better understand the activities of the Board. GET INVOLVED! At a minimum, send your email address to: pam@lakesomerset.org to receive information of importance to members -- meeting dates, security concerns, weed application dates, and any other information of importance on a timely basis. We will not release your email address to anyone, we promise, so you will not get any unwanted junk email. You may have to modify your email filter (if you use one) to accept this email account.

Volunteer to join the board! Join one of the standing committees, or join one of the park clean-up crews. The board can't do the job alone. We need member assistance. Come to one of the monthly meetings. Show your support by joining us at the annual meeting on October 4.

The annual meeting will give you an opportunity to hear an overview of each officer's and committee's activities of the past year. Also, there will be a detailed discussion of the association budget and reserves plan. You should know how your association assessments are being spent, and what the plans are for future spending. You will vote on 3 open seats on the board, and will have an opportunity to address the board on any issue you wish (time allowed).

I hope to see you at the annual meeting.
