Lake LeAnn Sewer Petition
The Lake LeAnn Property Owner's Association board has been pursuing a goal of garnering support for the installation of a sewer system at Lake LeAnn. A sewer district and map have been created and they also have a draft petition on their web site.

Their sewer project page can be viewed here.

Their Summer 2011 newsletter also contains a 'Lake Issues' article and a Sewer Q&A section that you may find of interest. An Adobe PDF of the newsletter can be viewed online here.

Spring 2009 Herbicide Application for Curly Leaf Pondweed and Milfoil

The lake will only be posted in the application areas so please read the posted notices for water-use precautions.

The plants targeted for this application are Curly Leafed Pondweed and Milfoil. They can be observed at the Aqua-Weed Control Web Site under the Submerged Plants heading or by searching the web for the plants. There are many excellent pictures on the web. We have two types of milfoil: Northern Milfoil (NM) that is native to Michigan, and Eurasian Water Milfoil (EWM), a non-native, invasive species that appears to be under control at the present time.

Click on the following image for an Adobe PDF of the treatment areas.

Somerset Township Assessor Updating Property Records

The Assessing Department will be updating property record cards around the Lake Somerset area during the 2009 summer and fall season as part of the standard Assessing Administration process mandated by the Sate of Michigan. These visits will not necessarily increase your tax bill unless new structures / additions are discovered; usually caused by not obtaining proper permits. Some structures / additions may not require permits, but may still add value to your property, therefore requiring this update process for the township to remain in compliance with State Tax Commission guidelines.

If you have any questions feel free to contact Jim Bradley, Somerset Township Assessor at 517-688-9223 during public office hours listed below.

Monday -- 9:00 a.m.-Noon and 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
Tuesday -- 9:00 a.m.-Noon
Wednesday -- 9:00 a.m.-Noon
